SFT Owner

Unlike the normality of this magazine. This episode of The Handler will not be about the actual real-life handler. You see, there are three levels of a handler. There is the character, the character's real self, and the handler who controls them both. I want to focus on the man behind Shadow. The Character's real self, so I can truly understand the character.

This article is not about Shadow the owner or Shadow the wrestler. It is about Shadow the person. Shadow the father. Shadow the former drug addict. It is all best we know the man deep down behind the persona, to truly understand the persona itself. First off, Shadow is originally from SFW, as you probably figured by him leading the stable with the same name. He was successful in SFW, winning its World Heavyweight Championship. He aligned himself with the best. Glenn Owen, Legion, James Flame, He was on top of the world. He later gained the SFW Ownership, following greats like Shawn and Dowling. These were hard shoes to fill. Shadow struggled a little bit with SFW, before Michael Pettis took over around the time of the SFW/XCW merger. When the company's merged, Pettis and XCW Owners Kevin and Mason all quit and handed SFT over to Shadow. Nobody can blame Shadow for what came next. Oh wait... Yes we can, and I am right now. Shadow is bias. The character he portrays on TV is absolutely nothing like his real life personality. He shamelessly awards his buddies with title shots and big name matches. Look at this PPV for instance. I know-it-all nothing Doom, in a high profile match with the 50% SFT Owner Erik Dean. It's absurd.

Shadow's professional life squanders dwarf in comparison to his real life problems. He's old and broken down. He is lost in his own little world he calls, "Wonderland". He repeateditly battling with his addictions to alcohol, cocaine, and several other substances. In no conscious mind could I let you lead this company, it has gone on for far too long. It is time for you to go home Shadow. Go home to your simple life with your daughter, check into rehab, and then come back. Maybe, you might have what it takes to run this place. Just maybe.

The views of Connor are his and not mine. Wait... I am Connor.... Derr....

Chimpo's Corner w/Chimpo The Chimp

Hey, listen. I'm going to tell you like it is. My views on Shadow and everything that has ever gone on here in SFT. Here goes.

I'll start at the first time half the roster left SFT. Now no federation should be able to say that their roster has revolted more than once, but there is SFT for you. This is all in Summer 2002. What happened was, the SFT website was hacked. Somebody had deleted all the SFT information and replaced it with a picture of a urinal with the message, "Down the crapper we go!". Also, Shadow had received and E-Mail that apparently carried a major virus with it. The only answer that Shadow could come up with was Cody Berntsen. He blamed Cody 100%. Now at this time, Shadow was already being ridiculed for oppressing XCW stars like Cody and Will Schorg and Connor MacDaddy, so this was the Icing on the cake. All the XCW supporters rallied up the troops and rebelled against SFT. So, Led by former SFT, SFW, and XCW owner Michael Pettis, Renegade Wrestling Alliance was formed. It did not fare to well and the RWA roster had to walk back to SFT with their heads down.

Now, the second time the SFT roster rebelled was shortly after RWA disbanded. XCW stars were still getting oppressed and many people were unhappy. That's when Nathan Gust re-formed a reborn XCW. This lasted for a good five or six months and was very popular do to its mixture of hardcore and humor wrestling. Sadly when XCW closed its doors for good, The stars of XCW only had one place to go, SFT.

Due to Shadow's politics, many stars were still unhappy with the way SFT was being run. Some say it resembled a dictatorship and Shadow's word was law. So a group of people formed an "SFT Alternative" in a newly reformed RWA. RWA seemed to have small success, as it disbanded within a few months. Then there was a long period where it seemed as things started to lighten up. Then "The Porn Incident" happened.

The Porn Incident refers to a promo featuring SFT Main Eventer Shawn Walsh, doing not so PG-13 things with his then girlfriend, now wife, Brandi James. Although I did have a great deal of fun watching it, It was deemed inappropriate by Shadow. This lit Walsh's fuse and caused him to go off on Shadow, which resulted in him being fired. Walsh dragged down many people with him and he and several others reformed RWA again! With several bumps along the way, including Michael Pettis "back-stabbing" RWA, RWA ahs been quite successful, and is putting SFT into some serious danger. The fact alone that Shadow is not taking care of RWA, makes him a bad owner. Shadow needs to learn to be tougher in some areas, and weaker in more. He is good and laid back, but push him too far and he will go off on you.

One other thing. Shadow has aligned himself with a stable, SFW. To have an owner join a stable is absurd, because you now know everybody that he is going to favor. I heard it been said that SFT is a lot like a family. This is very true. Erik Dean is a lot like a reasonable mother who fights for you while dad is out drinking and abusing his power of the house. Shadow is the father. In every family there is the black sheep. XCW is the black sheep to Shadow. We are goddamned tired of it and it is time for a new type of rebellion.

All the other types of rebellion have been the roster leaving SFT. No more. I love SFT. Believe it or not, Connor loves SFT and he wants the best for it. This new wave of rebellion is inside the federation. Eating away at its roots, but planting new supports. We will not hurt SFT. We will make it strong. A task that is only possible if Shadow is out of the picture.

You all may think this magazine is propaganda to get rid of Shadow, and in many ways it is. But I see it more of an intervention. If Shadow were to clean up his act, I would love for him to remain as Owner. I just hope he realizes that any trouble he has received, he has in someway deserved. That is all I have to say, thanks for reading. Sorry for not being funny as I usually am, But I firmly believe in this matter. Till next time, Chimpo-maniacs.

The Public's Approval
By Connor MacDaddy

Here, I have asked plenty of people, some SFT stars of the present, some of the past, their opinions on the seemingly undefeatable Shadow. I asked them two questions. What do you think of Shadow the SFT Owner? and What do you think of Shadow the person? Here are their honest answers.

What do you think of Shadow as SFT Owner?

Shawn Walsh: Shadow is a pitiful excuse for an owner. I have been led to believe by numerous people that he does nothing. He writes nothing unless EXTREMELY necessary. All he does is sit around and dictate what others should do.... So as far as ownership goes.... He isn't much of an Owner or a leader for SFT, now is he?

Sean Lane: I think Shadow is very stable as owner. I don’t agree with everything he does, I never have, but he's been there time and time again to bail the fed out of trouble. There's a respect there for what he does even if I don’t completely agree

Hardcore Hect: he's ok

Nathan Gust: I think Shadow's a great owner. He may be mentally distant most of the time, but he's kept this place in tact for so long. I may have disagreed with him many, many, many times in the past, but I think he's the perfect guy for the job.

Radiant: Probably not the answer MOST would expect from me, but I think he's fairly good to pretty good as owner despite a few small things that bother me no more than the next man/woman. All around I'd say he's been the best owner SFT has had. You can love him or hate him, but no matter how sad SFT has looked OR how good, either way . . . SFT is STILL alive.

Erik Dean: I think I’m better, other then that, he is alright, better then the past losers that were owner. Minus Gust of course, he knew what he was doing, but was shot down by Shadow. But unlike Pettis, Mad Dogg, Big T, Shadow knows how to keep this place alive.

Cody Berntsen: Shadow.. owns SFT? HA! Come on, out of everybody on staff, he probably does the least amount of work. He rides high on everybody else's hard work and plays omnipresent dictator. I call for a revolt against Shadow! WHO IS WITH ME?!

Tony Barrera: He's a Trooper.

"Nirvana" Jeff King: He’s like oil and water.

Fox: I respect the man... but I won't ever say we always see eye to eye. We share a different opinion on a few things here and there.

Allisa O'Toole: Meh, how the hell am I supposed to know? I guess he's good, but only because all the others fell on their fucking face. He knows how to keep things in order I guess, but I found there's a lot of things he could work on. He's a cold man... There'd be no harm in opening up to people. People say the SFT is like a family, and for a while I thought it was like that, but how can there be a family when the guy at the top is a ruthless bitch with no passion for anything but wrestling?

Connor MacDaddy: Shadow was a good owner at one point. At the beginning of his career as the SFT owner, he sucked. He brought all his buddies from SFW over and instantly fed them titles. People like me in XCW were pushed down to the very bottom rung. It was his entire fault. Then things started to look up. Aj Nin won the world title, and he started to act like an Owner of a major company should. Then the ego came. Now it seems that only Shadow and his close circle of friends get the attention. He is lost in the past, in the days of Legion and the British Badd Ass. No owner I know would simply let half the roster leave for a new Renegade federation without a fight. He didn't even try to stop them. Now that is just poor staffing

What do you think of Shadow as a person?

Shawn Walsh: Don't know much about him. What I do know, I do not like. If his leadership qualities - or lack thereof - are any indication as to what he is like as a person, then I feel extremely sorry for him.

Sean Lane: As a person I don’t really know Shadow. Any time I've talked to him its been for a few seconds about the SFT and that’s it. I cant make a judgment on him as a person because I don’t know him

Hardcore Hect: he's cool...I don't talk to him much, but he's cool

Nathan Gust: As a person... I'm not sure what I think of Shadow. He's a very quiet guy most of the time. The only time he really opens up is when he's... erm... under the influence of narcotics. Naw... just kidding. Shadow's a good guy overall.

Radiant: As a person again someone out there or lot's I don't know might be surprised, but I think he's a cool guy to talk to. I consider myself pretty close to him on various levels. I find myself connecting with him on a lot of topics and I almost never find myself hating a lot of what he says. I think he's primarily misunderstood and if he were looked at like I look at him SFT would be better as well.

Erik Dean: As a Person, Shadow is a scumbag who thinks he is god because he has beaten every one that has come and gone, including myself even if that was a fluke. Deep down he knows I would have won. He keeps going on living in the past and tries to re-live it every time he steps in the ring where as he should be in a grave along with his buddy legion.

Cody Berntsen: Oh sweet jebus. You sure you want to ask me that? Heh.. here it goes. I find him to be a vile, disgusting, immoral, perverted, twisted, repulsive, sickening, corrupt, nauseating, sleazy, repugnant, idiotic drug addict who should be locked up in the prison down the road. Want to know what I think of Glenn?

Tony Barrera: stand next to him... he can't stick the knife in your back if u do.

"Nirvana" Jeff King: Well as a person I can call him a friend, we don't always see eye to eye but even when I diss him we still talk. He has a lot of the same problems as my father did, and I think that makes him feel more like a father figure to me. Of course he never lets that get to his decisions when it comes to pushes. He can be rather harsh sometimes and cold, if he showed more of a human side he might be accepted more.

Fox: He is tough for most people to understand. I think I understand him better than some people. He holds everything in. People don't get to know him. To be honest... I doubt most people really try.

Allisa O'Toole: Well, like I said, I think he's heartless, but I think that's only a front he feels he has to put on because he's the owner. We never really talked, even as President. It was a strictly business thing, you know? I never made it subtle that I think the guy is a dick, but then, I think my opinion might be obscured, since I've never let myself feel anything but disgust for the guy.

Connor MacDaddy: Believe it or not. Shadow and I get along every once and a while. It's kind of like the movies, where the enemies have a found respect for each other, and on occasion get along. But deep down you know they hate each other's guts. That's me and Shadow. I personally think he is one of the most selfish men alive. He constantly puts himself before the fed, and that is a definite no-no in my book. One of the things I do admire about him is that he lets SFT have a "revolving door". Anybody that left in the past can be let back in. But he does get pushed to his limit, and that is where the selfishness kicks in. Many people shun him for his known drug problem. But I admire the fact that he was man enough to own up to the fact that he has a drug problem. But overall, he can be an asshole, and something has to be done about it of SFT will die.

Now you know how people feel Shadow... your move.
